I take on a small number of engagements each year. I work with teams who want someone who'll read the codebase before the brief, think in systems, and leave things in better shape than they found them.

What I offer

Audits and architecture reviews. A focused engagement — one to four weeks — where I read your codebase, interview your engineers, and give you an honest picture of where things stand. You get a written report with prioritised findings, not a slide deck.

Embedded engineering. I join your team for a defined period — typically one to three months — and work as a senior engineer or tech lead. I bring the tools, the process rigour, and the AI-augmented workflow. You keep the output.

End-to-end builds. I scope, architect, build, and hand over a working system. This works well for greenfield products, internal tooling, and integrations that need to be done properly. Handover includes documentation, runbooks, and a walkthrough with whoever's maintaining it.

How I work

AI is in the loop at every stage — planning, code review, spec drafting, testing, incident response. This isn't a talking point: it genuinely changes the pace and quality of what I can deliver, and it means you get more useful hours per engagement.

I communicate in writing. I keep a log of decisions and trade-offs as I go. I don't disappear between check-ins.

Rates and availability

I charge a day rate for embedded and project work, and a fixed fee for audits. Rates are available on request — I don't publish them because the right number depends on scope and fit.
